Fairtex SP5 size chart
Pick your glove size and shin guard size separately. Most gyms ask for 16oz gloves for sparring, while 8oz–12oz is commonly used for bag and pad work. You can also check our glove size guide for more help.
Fairtex SP5 shin guards are sized by shin length. Measure from the top of your ankle bone to just below your kneecap, then match your measurement to the Fairtex SP5 chart below.

Is a sparring set good for beginners?
Yes. It's the easiest way to get properly kitted out from day one. You won't need to research each piece separately, and you'll have quality gear that will last well beyond your first year of training.
You get everything you need to spar in one go, and it costs less than buying each piece separately. Your gloves and shin guards are matched in colour and style, so you'll look sharp and fresh walking into the gym. Shin guards are sized by shin length first. Measure from the top of your ankle bone to just below your kneecap, then match it to our shin guard size chart.
If you're between sizes, go by shin length and use the straps to fine-tune the fit. Each Thai brand cuts slightly differently, so if you're unsure, message us with your height and shin measurement and we'll tell you exactly what to order.
How should they fit?
The top should sit just below your kneecap without digging in, and the foot pad should cover your instep. The straps should lie flat against your calf.
A quick test is to stand in your stance and throw a few light checks. The guard shouldn't twist or slide. If it does, it's usually a size too big or the straps need tightening.

Genuine leather lasts longer, holds its shape under heavy use and moulds to your leg over time. Good synthetics are lighter and easier on a budget, and they're a great choice for beginners or lighter pad work.
